I had hoped that I could somehow get a 2d array corresponding to the data shown in the plot and remove all points below a certain threshold.</div>

<div>I recommend giving the newer PhasePlot command a try. You will have to first create the sphere data container manually and then give it to PhasePlot, but it will make a good looking image for you.
