I think you're looking for BinnedProfile2D.  There's more information about how to use it (http://yt-project.org/docs/2.4/analyzing/generating_processed_data.html#profiles-and-histograms) and initialize it (http://yt-project.org/docs/2.4/api/generated/yt.data_objects.profiles.BinnedProfile2D.__init__.html#yt.data_objects.profiles.BinnedProfile2D.__init__) in the docs.
