If you're interested in vim, start with vimtutor (should be on all
unix/linux boxes.)  It'll get you over the WTF bump faster.  I had to
use vim for a day when emacs was missing on a machine I needed, and I
haven't gone back.  (Unless I want to use emacs's context-aware
indentation, which I like for C/C++ or fortran but I don't find
necessary for python.)
