Hi Dave,

It sure is, but this functionality is only in trunk, not yt-1.0.  You
can add an interpolated slice to your PlotCollection object (pc here)
with:

pc.add_projection_interpolated(...)
pc.add_slice_interpolated(...)

these use the delaunay triangulation and natural-neighbor
interpolation, so they will be smoothed, but perhaps not in quite the
way you would expect.  If you'd like to tweak the parameters to the
interpolator, they are inside yt/raven/PlotTypes.py in the class
NNVMPlot; specifically, you should also be able to make a linearly
interpolated plot.
