Right now we pass display names directly to the mathtext parser.  If the display name is text only, spaces will be stripped out (just like in LaTeX math mode).  We should process the display name to look for spaces and replace them with LaTeX math mode whitespace characters (e.g. '\/').  Thanks to Christian Karch (chiffre) for pointing this out.
