[yt-dev] yt sprint at SciPy 2016: looking for in-person and remote participants

Hi all,

I wanted to update everyone on the status of the sprint.

We had four people working hard on fixing issues for 3.3. Right now there
is only one open issue marked for 3.3 that does not have a proposed pull
request associated with it. I've pinged Cameron about it, but if I don't
hear back we may punt on it. I expect that we will do a release this week.
It would be great if we could get reviewers for the pull requests that were
opened during the sprint.

In addition, we made contacts with scientists from NOAA, who have some
unstructured mesh data that is readily loadable by yt. For example:

The data are a forecast for the water temperature off the New England
coast. Hopefully this will lead to new connections with oceanographers!

I'd like to personally thank everyone who participated in the sprint and
have contributed heavily to getting yt 3.3 out the door, in particular
Andrew Myers, Kacper Kowalik, Meagan Lang, Matt Turk, Cameron Hummels and
Britton Smith (apologies if I missed anyone!). I think yt 3.3 will be out
highest quality major release due to all the time spent fixing longstanding
bugs.

If anyone else did anything cool at the sprint, please let us know!

-Nathan
