I'm on changeset 5acca4b24803, which is the tip of yt-3.0, and it
works fine for me.

import yt
ds = yt.load("agora_1e11.00400/agora_1e11.00400")
p = yt.ProjectionPlot(ds, "x", ("deposit", "all_density"))
p.save()
